Dr. Surajit Sen is a well-respected ophthalmologist with more than a decade of experience in treating patients for a variety of eye conditions. His gentle and calm nature makes his patients very comfortable and reassured about their ailments. He is a cataract surgeon per excellence and certified in management of all types of Glaucoma as well. He has performed more than 7000 cataract and glaucoma surgeries till date.
His areas of interest include Cataract surgeries in difficult situations, medical and surgical management of complicated Glaucoma including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), refractive surgeries like LASIK, ICL implantation, medical management of retinal disorders, like Diabetic retinopathy, Age related macular degeneration and retinal venous occlusions.

After completing his MBBS from Burdwan Medical college, Dr. Sen joined one of the most reputed post graduate institutions of eastern India, The Regional Institution of Ophthalmology, Medical College, Kolkata to do his residency in ophthalmology. He passed Diploma in Ophthalmology with second highest marks in the university. Then he went to one of the most premium institution of India, Sankara Nethralaya Chennai after securing 2nd rank in All India DNB entrance exam. After completing his residency at Sankara Nethralaya, he did long term fellowship in Clinical Glaucoma from the same institute.
Dr. Sen was trained under legendary ophthalmologists like Dr. Lingam Vijaya, Dr. B. Shantha and Dr. Ronnie George who have trained numerous top ophthalmologists from various parts of India. Then he came back to Kolkata and joined Sankara Nethralaya Kolkata as a Consultant in the department of Glaucoma and Cataract services and worked there till 2022. During his stay at Sankara Nethralaya, apart from successfully treating various complicated referred patients from eastern India, he was very actively involved in surgical training of post graduate students and fellows of the institution. He had a very keen interest in research and academics and has presented more than 100 lectures as invited faculty.
He has conducted instruction courses in various National conferences and has also published his scientific work in various journals. Dr. Sen was also a member of the research cell and ethics committee of Sankara Nethralaya, Kolkata and worked as a Thesis evaluator for All India Ophthalmological Society- Academic research cell for the year 2019 and 2020. Dr. Sen has received Best Scientific Poster award at annual conference of ophthalmic society of West Bengal in 2023. He had also received Best Poster award in Annual conference of Glaucoma society of India in 2019 as co-author.
He was awarded with Fellowship of All India Collegium of Ophthalmologists (FAICO) in 2018 , Membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS) in 2021 and Fellowship of American College of Surgeons (FACS ) in 2022.
